Could PTSD UK be your Charity of the Year?

Imagine living every day feeling overwhelmed by fear, anxiety, or flashbacks triggered by past trauma. This is the daily reality for millions of people in the UK suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). But together, we can change that. By nominating PTSD UK as your Charity of the Year, you can help bring hope, healing, and support to those who need it most.

Many employers, local clubs, and small businesses across the UK have a Charity of the Year programme, where employees or members can nominate a cause close to their hearts. If your organisation has such a programme, we’d love for you to nominate PTSD UK!

Why Nominate PTSD UK?

PTSD UK is the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to raising awareness of PTSD and C-PTSD, no matter what trauma caused it. Trauma can affect anyone, and PTSD is more common than many realise – 10% of people in the UK will experience PTSD or C-PTSD at some point in their lives.

Unfortunately, up to 70% of people living with PTSD or C-PTSD never receive the professional help they need. This is where PTSD UK can help. We work tirelessly to raise awareness, provide life-changing resources, and ensure that people understand their symptoms, know that treatment is available, and realise that recovery is possible.

By choosing PTSD UK as your Charity of the Year, you will be making a huge difference to those in need, helping to:

  • Raise awareness so more people can recognise PTSD and C-PTSD symptoms in themselves or their loved ones.
  • Expand access to support by providing resources that help people understand their diagnosis, get treatment, and begin their recovery journey.
  • Campaign for change by advocating for better care and recognition for people affected by PTSD and C-PTSD, especially in high-risk communities.

With a 114% increase in demand for our services recently, our resources are stretched to their limits. Your support can make a real impact on the lives of those who feel isolated, misunderstood, or unsupported due to trauma.

Why Choose PTSD UK?

  • We are the only UK charity solely focused on PTSD and C-PTSD, supporting people from all walks of life.
  • We provide life-changing resources to help people understand their condition and seek treatment.
  • Our work reaches over 660,000 people each year, with 1.5 million page views on our website.
  • We advocate for better PTSD care through the government and NHS, pushing for real change.

Your support will help us continue this vital work and reach even more people who need our help.

How we can help support you

We understand that choosing a Charity of the Year should benefit your organisation too. Here’s how we can support you in return:

  • Boosting your profile: With over 660,000 visitors to our website each year and 90,000 followers on social media, featuring your support on our platforms will boost your organisation’s visibility and showcase your commitment to making a difference.
  • Engaging your staff: We can deliver inspiring talks and presentations to your team, either in person or online, to engage your employees and motivate them to get involved in supporting our work.
  • Ready-made materials: We can provide promotional materials, collection tins, and even popular merchandise from our supporters’ shop to help boost your fundraising efforts.
  • Tailored Fundraising Support: We’ll work with you to create a fundraising plan that suits your organisation’s strengths and interests. Whether it’s charity runs, bake sales, or corporate challenges, we’re here to provide ideas, resources, and guidance to make your fundraising efforts successful and enjoyable.
  • Employee Volunteering Opportunities: Encourage your team to give back by volunteering with PTSD UK. We can offer opportunities for employees to get involved directly, from helping at events to providing skills-based volunteering in areas like marketing, administration, or fundraising.
  • Co-Branded Campaigns: We can collaborate on co-branded campaigns that align with your values and goals, showcasing how our partnership is making a difference. This can include joint social media campaigns, blog posts, or even dedicated events that bring our organisations together.

Treatments for PTSD

It is possible for PTSD to be successfully treated many years after the traumatic event occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. For some, the first step may be watchful waiting, then exploring therapeutic options such as individual or group therapy – but the main treatment options in the UK are psychological treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with, but confronting and understanding your feelings and seeking professional help is often the only way of effectively treating PTSD. You can find out more in the links below, or here.
