PTSD UK Alliance: A Collaborative Network for Trauma Professionals
Our Mission
If you work in the field of trauma, you’ll know how isolating it can sometimes feel. The system we operate in is deeply flawed—underfunded, overstretched and often failing the very people it was designed to help. Every day, we see the gaps, the barriers, the unnecessary suffering. And yet, despite the incredible work being done by so many dedicated individuals and organisations, it often feels like we’re all operating in separate bubbles—each of us trying to hold back a tidal wave of need with our bare hands.
When you’re standing alone in the face of so many urgent, complex issues, it’s easy to feel like real change is impossible. Policy changes move at a glacial pace. Access to appropriate treatment remains a postcode lottery. Funding is scarce. And trauma itself is still so widely misunderstood.
But what if we weren’t alone? What if we came together—not just to share frustrations, but to pool our knowledge, our networks, our influence? What if we could turn our individual efforts into something bigger, something powerful enough to break through the systemic barriers that keep trauma survivors from getting the care and support they deserve?
That’s why we’re launching the PTSD UK Alliance—a space where professionals, campaigners, and changemakers in the world of trauma can come together, combine our networks, and use our collective power to make real, lasting change. This is about connection, collaboration, and action. It’s about ensuring that those of us working in trauma support, treatment, research, and advocacy are no longer working in isolation. Because when we unite our voices, change isn’t just possible—it becomes inevitable.

Treatments for PTSD
It is possible for PTSD to be successfully treated many years after the traumatic event occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. For some, the first step may be watchful waiting, then exploring therapeutic options such as individual or group therapy – but the main treatment options in the UK are psychological treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with, but confronting and understanding your feelings and seeking professional help is often the only way of effectively treating PTSD. You can find out more in the links below, or here.
