PTSD UK Founder Awarded Scholarship for prestigious Traumatic Stress Studies Program

PTSD UK is proud to announce that its Founder and CEO, Jacqui, has been awarded a scholarship for the prestigious Traumatic Stress Studies Certificate Program offered by the renowned Trauma Research Foundation (TRF).

This scholarship provides an exceptional opportunity for Jacqui to enhance her expertise and knowledge in the field of trauma and it’s treatment, hugely benefiting the work of PTSD UK and the people we support.

This post-graduate level Traumatic Stress Studies Program offered by TRF and led by Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk is specifically designed to address the growing demand for experienced clinicians and experts well-versed in various treatment modalities. The program boasts a faculty of esteemed experts in the field of trauma, including renowned figures like Bessel van der Kolk, MD, Richard Schwartz, PhD, Stephen Porges, PhD, and Janina Fisher, PhD, among others.

TRF aims to establish networks of clinicians and experts worldwide who possess a deep understanding of traumatic stress and we’re honoured that TRF see the significant value in the work we do.

By participating in this program, Jacqui will gain further invaluable insights into the biological and psychological processes underlying trauma. The program also covers a wide range of innovative treatment approaches, including body-based techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC), SMART, sand tray therapy, neurofeedback, EMDR, psychedelic therapies, yoga, and theatre.

Jacqui’s participation in this program aligns perfectly with PTSD UK’s mission to provide comprehensive support and resources to people affected by PTSD and C-PTSD. With her expanded knowledge and skills in trauma treatment, Jacqui will be better equipped to support others to navigate the complexities of PTSD and C-PTSD, ensuring that PTSD UK continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by the conditions.

Huge thanks to  The Trauma Research Foundation and Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk for selecting Jacqui to receive this scholarship.

Treatments for PTSD

It is possible for PTSD to be successfully treated many years after the traumatic event occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. For some, the first step may be watchful waiting, then exploring therapeutic options such as individual or group therapy – but the main treatment options in the UK are psychological treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with, but confronting and understanding your feelings and seeking professional help is often the only way of effectively treating PTSD. You can find out more in the links below, or here.
