Support PTSD UK while you shop - at no cost to you!
Dare we mention Christmas yet?
If it’s too early for you to shop for gifts yet, then perhaps you’re gearing up to make cut-price purchases during Black Friday (26th November) or Cyber Monday (29th November). Though these days, many online retailers start offering Sale Deals from mid-November onwards.
The reason we mention this is that with every item you buy online in the coming weeks, you could trigger a donation to PTSD UK – and all this without spending even one penny extra!
Imagine if all fundraising was this easy!
In the UK, we spent £141.33 billion on internet shopping last year.
Imagine for a second how much charity cash could be raised if each of those online sales earned a ‘cashback’ amount for registered charities.
That is not as far fetched as it sounds if more people opted to use special payment platforms when they shop online. These platforms automatically send a donation to your chosen charity, based on the amount you spend.
Remember, it’s not your money!
The money donated comes from the retailers – and it’s usually based on a percentage of much you spent with them. It’s also very simple to buy things this way. Plus, when you use the tried, trusted and verified payment platforms that trigger charity donations, your data remains secure and private.
There are various options, that support online fundraising this way. With some, you use an app on your phone to make your purchases, and others give you a special link address for the browser on your phone or computer.
How to make it happen
The first thing is to find an eCommerce fundraising link that triggers donations to PTSD UK.
We are connected to a variety of special payment platforms, but here are 3 which enable you to indirectly and directly support our work.
Estimates put the number of things Amazon sells at 12 million. Apart from this huge choice, the online shopping giant is well known for its keen pricing. Though of course, having goods delivered to your door – often the next day – is a massive advantage too!
To help our work – while you shop on Amazon – simply tap on the link above, and then on ‘Get Started’. The site will sign in existing Amazon account holders and register new ones.
Then, you will be asked which charity you wish to support with this effortless fundraising initiative. That’s where you select PTSD UK!
After that, each time you visit Amazon using the Amazon Smile address (simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk when you want to shop), and we get an automated 0.5% donation from the internet retailer. It really is something to smile about!
Using the links above, simply visit our page on these websites, and click “Support this cause” or ‘Support us”. You will then be prompted to create an account. Once this initial set-up is done, you can access almost 5000 different websites to buy everything from Christmas gifts, your outfit of choice, to food for the big day and more!
Every purchase you make with these many and varied online shops will trigger donations to us from those retailers for example you can raise up to:
- 2% donation from John Lewis
- 3% donation from Lego
- 2.5% donation from Boots
- 2% donation from Very
- 3% donation from Interflora
- 2.5% donation from Hotel Chocolat
Remember, it’s free to use and once you have an account it’s just a couple of extra clicks when you shop online.
PLUS – you can also print out and attach a personalised tag to your gift, to let them know that their present helped support PTSD UK with Give As You Live! Simply visit this page to make your own.
One last idea for socially conscious shoppers
We couldn’t end this appeal for PTSD UK fundraising support without one final idea for how to help us.
Many people are recycling, reusing and reducing to be more environmentally aware. Others are adding another ‘R’, which is refusing to buy new ‘things’. Instead, they use their cash in a meaningful way, such as putting money aside to help us on our mission to support everyone affected by PTSD, no matter the trauma that caused it.
Please visit our donations page for more details on how to make a donation.
Thank you so much for your support!! 🙂

Treatments for PTSD
It is possible for PTSD to be successfully treated many years after the traumatic event occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. For some, the first step may be watchful waiting, then exploring therapeutic options such as individual or group therapy – but the main treatment options in the UK are psychological treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with, but confronting and understanding your feelings and seeking professional help is often the only way of effectively treating PTSD. You can find out more in the links below, or here.
