project manager

We’re expanding our team – join us as our new PTSD UK Project Manager!

APPLICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE HAVE NOW CLOSED

We’re excited to share that PTSD UK is launching a brand-new national initiative designed to help workplaces across the UK become safer, more supportive environments for people affected by trauma, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD).

Thanks to newly awarded funding, we’re developing the Trauma-Informed Workplaces Project. This programme will create, pilot, and evaluate a self-paced online training course that helps organisations understand trauma, reduce harm, and embed trauma-informed practice into everyday workplace culture and Occupational Safety and Health systems.

The project will be delivered in partnership with lived-experience contributors, specialist consultants, and a diverse range of pilot organisations, ensuring the training is practical, inclusive, evidence-informed, and grounded in real-world needs. Our aim is simple but powerful: to improve understanding, reduce stigma, and support meaningful, long-lasting change in how workplaces respond to trauma.

To lead this important work, we’re now recruiting a Project Manager to oversee the delivery of the Trauma-Informed Workplaces Programme from start to finish. This role will coordinate timelines, partners, pilots, evaluation, and reporting, helping to ensure the programme is delivered to a high standard and in line with PTSD UK’s trauma-informed values.

Below you’ll find the full job description, including details on the role, responsibilities, and how to apply. Please note, interviews are expected to take place in late January with the role starting in early March 2026.

PTSD UK Project Manager (Trauma-Informed Workplaces Programme)

Location: Work from home – must be UK based (willingness to travel within the UK for meetings, workshops, or pilot partner visits, with advance notice)
Salary: From £38,000 (pro rata)
Contract: Initial 18-month contract (March 2026 – August 2027)
Contracted Hours: Part time – 3 days per week

PTSD UK has been awarded funding to create and deliver our exciting new national training programme: the Trauma-Informed Workplaces Project, which will develop, pilot, and evaluate a self-paced online training programme designed to help organisations create safer, more supportive environments for those affected by trauma.

In this newly created role, you’ll lead the delivery of this project from start to finish – coordinating timelines, collaborating with experts, and ensuring every element runs smoothly. You won’t be responsible for writing or producing the training content yourself – instead, you’ll oversee and coordinate with consultants on research and development, ensuring everything is delivered on time, to brief, and to a high standard. You’ll help shape a pioneering programme that aims to transform workplace culture, raise awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and embed trauma-informed practices into Occupational Safety and Health systems across the UK.

This is a rare opportunity to make a tangible difference in the world of workplace wellbeing and mental health, leading a flagship project that has the potential to change how organisations understand and respond to trauma.

We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups in the mental health, third-sector and workplace-wellbeing fields. We recognise the value of a diverse team and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. Appointments will be made on merit, based on skills and experience relevant to the role.

What you’ll be asked to do

You’ll be joining a small, dedicated team where collaboration, compassion, and flexibility are at the heart of how we work. At PTSD UK, we trust our team to work autonomously while providing regular connection, support, and shared purpose. You’ll have space to shape your work, bring new ideas, and feel truly valued as part of a mission-driven charity making a national impact.

The Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and coordination of the Trauma-Informed Workplaces Project. Your key responsibilities will include:

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Lead the implementation of the project plan, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met across each phase (research, development, pilot, evaluation, and rollout).
  • Coordinate with PTSD UK’s Senior Operations & Development Manager and CEO on progress and strategic alignment.
  • Manage project documentation, risk assessments, and reporting in line with the funders requirements.
  • Support onboarding and collaboration with consultants, who will lead on content development and programme design.
  • Work closely with the web developer to ensure smooth integration of the learning platform into the PTSD UK website.

Stakeholder Engagement and Pilot Management

  • Recruit and manage relationships with 10 diverse pilot partner organisations across sectors such as healthcare, education, emergency services, and corporate employers.
  • Coordinate feedback workshops, gather insights from lived experience contributors, and ensure voices of those with PTSD and C-PTSD are reflected throughout the project.
  • Provide regular communication, support, and updates to pilot partners, ensuring engagement and satisfaction throughout the pilot phase.

Content Development Oversight and Delivery Support

  • Oversee and coordinate collaboration between the consultant, web developer, and internal team during content creation — ensuring smooth communication and timely delivery.
  • Manage project timelines for content review, feedback collection, and approval.
  • Ensure all training materials and modules meet accessibility, inclusivity, and safeguarding standards.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Oversee the design and delivery of baseline, mid-point, and end-of-pilot surveys to measure impact on awareness, wellbeing, and organisational culture.
  • Track progress and outcomes, producing evaluation summaries, case studies, and final reports.
  • Provide regular updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the funders.

Marketing and Rollout Preparation

  • Manage communications and marketing for early promotion of the pilot and future rollout.
  • Gather testimonials and insights to inform future case studies and marketing materials.
  • Contribute to sustainability and scaling strategies for national rollout in 2027.

The type of person we’re looking for

  • This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing people, processes, and progress.
  • A highly organised, proactive project manager who can balance detail with big-picture vision.
  • A confident communicator who can coordinate multiple stakeholders with professionalism and empathy.
  • Someone who embraces trauma-informed values in their working style – showing empathy, patience, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
  • Someone passionate about workplace wellbeing, trauma awareness, and creating meaningful change.
  • A self-starter who thrives working independently but enjoys collaboration and shared purpose.

PTSD UK is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including those from under-represented groups.

Experience required for the role

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience in project management or programme delivery, ideally within health, education, or non-profit settings.
  • Knowledge of PTSD, C-PTSD, or trauma-informed practice (professionally or personally).
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-phase projects.
  • Experience coordinating external consultants, partners, or contributors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Confident using tools such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, CRMs, and project management software.
  • Ability to track data, prepare progress reports, and meet deadlines with accuracy and clarity.
  • Experience of working with or supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, and/or a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in the charity, mental health, or Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) sector.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, evaluation frameworks, or impact reporting.
  • Experience managing grant-funded projects or working with funders.

What we can offer: Salary and benefits

  • Salary from £38,000 pro rata for 3 days per week.
  • Generous holiday allowance and PTSD UK closes between Christmas and New Year.
  • Up to 4% employer pension contribution.
  • Access to a Healthcare Plan, including Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing support.
  • Discounts from PTSD UK’s partner businesses.
  • We understand that wellbeing and balance are essential. Our team works remotely across the UK, connected through regular check-ins, collaborative planning, and a shared commitment to supporting one another.
  • The opportunity to lead a high-profile, transformative national project with lasting impact.
  • We are open to discussing flexible working patterns (for example for applicants with disabilities or caring responsibilities).

The role

  • This is an initial 18-month contract, covering the full project period (March 2026–August 2027).

  • You’ll work 3 days per week (days/times flexible, agreed in advance).

  • PTSD UK is committed to safeguarding vulnerable people and follows a Safer Recruitment Policy. The role may require a DBS or PVG check and verified references.

We actively welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and experiences. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the communities we support, and we continually learn and adapt our practices to ensure PTSD UK remains a safe, welcoming, and empowering place to work.

If you require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process (for example due to disability, neurodiversity, or caring responsibilities), please let us know and we’ll make every effort to accommodate your needs

Treatments for PTSD

It is possible for PTSD to be successfully treated many years after the traumatic event occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. For some, the first step may be watchful waiting, then exploring therapeutic options such as individual or group therapy – but the main treatment options in the UK are psychological treatments such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Traumatic events can be very difficult to come to terms with, but confronting and understanding your feelings and seeking professional help is often the only way of effectively treating PTSD. You can find out more in the links below, or here.
