Jurassic Coast Challenge
The route
The full 100km is a tough challenge rewarded by fantastic views, a route that’s simply stunning, and an overwhelming sense of achievement as you finish. From a new start venue in Corfe Castle it’s across the ‘Isle of Purbeck’ to Swanage, along the coast, and then looping back towards Corfe Castle for lunch at 25 km. Then we head west along the Purbeck Ridge to Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door, en route to Weymouth at the 58 km halfway stop with welcome hot food & a massage. For Full Challengers it’s on to the far end of Chesil Beach, then to West Bay with its famous sandstone cliffs, before finally reaching the Bridport finish line where a big celebration awaits!
The Jurassic 1st Half is the toughest ‘Half’ Challenge within our Series. It’s a 58 km of real variety with ups & downs giving 1,600 metres of climb – so requires some training & some determination. The route is stunning , with spectacular scenery including Corfe Castle, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, & Durdle Door, before continuing onward to the Weymouth finish line – where a celebration and & a well earned rest awaits!
Take on the 2nd Half Marathon distance Challenge either by joining someone on the Full Challenge from 17:00 on Saturday to finish with them, or set off with most others early Sunday morning. From Weymouth the route heads west, tackling the far end of Chesil beach, through Abbottsbury Swannery, on to West Bay and then the final few km up to the finish line in Bridport.
